Ligand Effects in Low‐Valent Co(I) Clathrochelate Complexes

Clathrochelate complexes of cobalt are known in the oxidation states I, II, and III. Low-valent Co(I) highly reactive compounds, there is only limited knowledge about their structures solid state. Herein, we describe crystallographic analyses three low-valent clathrochelate complexes, along with corresponding Co(II) precursors. Two different ligand environments were studied: a) ligands alkyl substituents, which render reducing, b) potentially redox non-innocent ligands. Our show that have a large effect on potentials, but small geometry electronic state central Co ion.
